Getting started with professional enterprise virtualisation: In this two-day core training, you will acquire the key technical skills for successfully deploying and managing Proxmox VE on single hosts. Learn best practices for networking, storage architectures and security strategies directly from the certified partner.

Your learning objective in the course

After the training, you will have an in-depth understanding of how to use VMs and LXC containers optimally. You will configure the integrated firewall, plan tailored backup & restore strategies (incl. Proxmox Backup Server) and manage user permissions with fine-grained control. You will also be able to migrate existing workloads (V2V/P2V) and carry out basic troubleshooting independently.

This training is a prerequisite for Proxmox VE Training Module 2.

Detailed training content (14 hours)

  1. Architecture & introduction: Understanding Proxmox VE on single hosts.
  2. Installation & updates: System requirements, basic configuration and package management.
  3. Interfaces: Efficient use of the web GUI and CLI.
  4. Network management: Bridges, bonding, VLANs and an introduction to software-defined networking (SDN).
  5. Storage management: Local storage options for single-server deployments.
  6. Guest management: Creating and administering virtual machines (VMs) and Linux containers (LXC).
  7. Migrations: Successful V2V migrations from other hypervisors.
  8. Backup: Integrated backups and deep integration of Proxmox Backup Server (PBS).
  9. Permissions & security: Authentication realms, role concepts and user management.
  10. Security: Configuring the integrated Proxmox firewall.
  11. Troubleshooting: Identifying typical sources of errors and resolving them independently.
