As a clear advocate of Open Source Software (OSS), we also live "Open Source" within our company. This includes supporting our employees, who often participate in many different Open Source projects, in their private and voluntary work. Our colleagues can therefore also carry out parts of this Open Source work during their professional working hours. Of course, work for our customers always takes precedence for us. On the other hand, we also have companies in our customer base for whom we contribute to Open Source projects and solve problems or suggest features to the projects on their behalf.

Furthermore, as an employer, credativ® facilitates participation in international Open Source events and conferences, where our employees are often well-represented. Many of our employees are also globally sought-after Open Source experts as "speakers." Examples include the annual DebConf and various PostgreSQL-related conferences.
As a sponsor and active member of the international Linux Foundation and the Open Source Business Alliance (OSBA), credativ® also supports numerous regular Open Source events, as well as various Open Source projects and organizations. Since our founding in 1999 alone, credativ® has supported over 200 events. A key focus here is the exchange and continuous development of efficient Open Source Software, aiming to make it accessible to everyone and overcome barriers.

For us, Open Source Software is also a crucial element of corporate and governmental digital sovereignty. Only by knowing or being able to verify what the deployed software does can one be certain that the vendor is not acting against the client's interests. This verification is possible with Open Source Software, as the underlying source code is always open, and no one can easily revoke its use from the user. Moreover, Open Source Software prevents vendor lock-in, where one is subjected to a supplier's arbitrary pricing.
Many of our clients also support our work within the Open Source Community by contributing Open Source developments they commission back to the community. We are especially delighted by this!
Beyond our general involvement in the international Open Source scene, we also develop our own Open Source projects, which we make available worldwide free of charge under a very liberal Open Source license. You can find these projects on Github.
"Freedom means not having a master. And in the area of computing, freedom means not using proprietary software.", Richard Stallman in Gothenburg, Sweden, 2007
As an excellent IHK-certified training company and a close partner of Hochschule Niederrhein, we foster the next generation by continuously training new, motivated Open Source experts, many of whom subsequently find their future workplace at credativ®. You can find our job vacancies here.
As you can see, we contribute significantly to the ongoing development of cutting-edge and powerful Open Source Software! We truly understand the principle of Open Source Software – we don't just use it; we actively develop it!
