Until now, open source databases were a missing part of the conference program.<\/p>\n<p>However, databases such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.postgresql.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">PostgreSQL<sup>\u00ae<\/sup><\/a> or <a href=\"http:\/\/cassandra.apache.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Apache Cassandra<\/a> are one of the most important pillars in modern open source infrastructures.<\/p>\n<p>Together with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linuxfoundation.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Linux Foundation<\/a>, we are pleased to announce that this year\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/events.linuxfoundation.org\/open-source-summit-north-america\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Open Source Summit North America<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/events.linuxfoundation.org\/open-source-summit-europe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Europe<\/a> each will have their own database track.<\/p>\n<p>Together with Sunil Kamath (Microsoft) and Divya Bhargov (Pivotal), our Managing Director Dr. Michael Meskes forms the program committee for the new track of the event.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Michael Meskes comments this in his blog post at the Linux Foundation as follows:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe open source database track will feature topics specific to databases themselves and their integration to the computing backbone for applications. The track will focus on databases of all kinds, as long as they are open source, and any deployment and integration topics.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The complete blog post of the Linux Foundation can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/events.linuxfoundation.org\/2020\/01\/21\/new-open-source-databases-track-at-open-source-summit-north-america-europe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Linux Foundation and the program committee are looking forward to plenty of submissions for this track. Presentations can be submitted until 16 February (<a href=\"https:\/\/events.linuxfoundation.org\/open-source-summit-north-america\/program\/cfp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">North America<\/a>) and 14 June (<a href=\"https:\/\/events.linuxfoundation.org\/open-source-summit-europe\/program\/cfp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Europe<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s Open Source Summit North America will take place in Austin, Texas. Whereas the Open Source Summit Europe will be hosted in Dublin, Ireland.
