PostgreSQL Database Senior Consultant (m/f/d)

The database team is a group of PostgreSQL specialists who successfully collaborate in remote and hybrid work models. PostgreSQL in particular is used by many of our customers as a business-critical database. We provide active support for its operation and are looking for a highly motivated additional team member.

You will become an important member of our Open Source team, where many of the leading German Open Source specialists realize our customer projects. Your future colleagues have extremely broad knowledge, which makes our company so unique and which they would like to share with you.

What tasks you can expect:

• Long-term PostgreSQL projects like migrations
• 3rd-level PostgreSQL support, also as part of our on-call rotation
• Open Source work on PostgreSQL-related projects
• Database reliability engineering
• Architecture review, performance analysis and health checks
• Training and conference talks
• Mentoring for team colleagues

What you should be able to provide:

• Extensive knowledge of PostgreSQL at administrative and at architectural/source code level
• At least five years of experience in the implementation and operation of PostgreSQL high-availability solutions
• Experience with other PostgreSQL system projects such as pgbouncer, backup (pgBackRest, Barman) and monitoring/surveillance solutions
• Knowledge of configuration management systems (e.g. Ansible) and general Linux system engineering
• Motivation and team spirit
• Willingness to contribute your ideas and knowledge
• Coding experience in C/C++, Python or other languages
• Ideal: PostgreSQL coder or contributor, or comparable project involvement with other FOSS databases
• Ideal: Experience as a migration specialist
• Communication in spoken and written German and English
• The ability to seek and find customer-oriented solutions
• Occasional willingness to travel
• Location in Germany and appropriate work permit
