Open Source Virtualization Gathering Mönchengladbach

All good things come in threes! After the great success of our first two meetups, we are delighted to invite you to the third edition of our Open Source Virtualization Gathering. On June 11, 2026, we will meet again at our premises in Mönchengladbach.

As usual, you can look forward to an evening full of technical depth, hands-on experience reports, and time to connect with the community.

The schedule for the evening

We will be sticking to our proven schedule:

• 5:15 PM: Doors open & arrival (soft drinks are on us!).
• 5:45 PM: Talk 1: Proxmox Backup Server: From Datacenter to Bucket (Florian Hoberg).
• 6:30 PM: Networking & short break.
• 6:45 PM: Talk 2: Surprise talk – stay tuned! (Or is this YOUR slot?) .
• 7:30 PM: Open discussion & networking at the office.
• 8:30 PM: Wrap-up together at the Italian restaurant in the building (at your own expense).

Talk 1: Proxmox Backup Server: From Datacenter to Bucket

The first talk will be given by Florian Hoberg, Head of Virtualization at credativ. Florian will show how modern offsite backup strategies become significantly simpler and more flexible with Proxmox Backup Server (PBS) and native S3 integration.

He will explain how classic sync setups—which previously often required a second, physical PBS—can be efficiently replaced by object storage. The goal: less infrastructure, lower complexity, and still the same high level of availability. A must for anyone looking to streamline their backup scenarios.

Talk 2: A surprise guest or YOUR topic?

For our second slot at 6:45 PM, we are currently planning a surprise. However, we are also happy to be persuaded otherwise!

Do you have an exciting open-source project, a tricky troubleshooting story, or an innovative solution in the virtualization space (Proxmox, KVM, automation) that you would like to present to the community? We will give you the stage in a relaxed atmosphere. Just drop us a quick message—we welcome spontaneous submissions!

Catering & Registration

During the event at the office, we will provide soft drinks as always. For those who get hungry later, we will head together at 8:30 PM to the Italian restaurant on the ground floor (important note: no pizza, but excellent pasta!). Dinner is at your own expense.
