Our Visit to PGday Lowlands 2026

On 2026-09-10, the third PGDay Lowlands took place in Utrecht, and credativ was, of course, once again present with its own booth and talks.
With over a hundred participants, PGDay Lowlands has grown to become one of Europe’s largest PostgreSQL community events, alongside pgconf.eu and pgconf.de. Even the full-day strike of local and long-distance transport across the Netherlands on the previous day could not change this.
Program
Throughout the day, spread across two rooms, in addition to larger talks on topics such as pgvector, there were also contributions from PostgreSQL Core Members, such as what the Cyber Resilience Act means for PostgreSQL by Peter Eisentraut, and the Innovations in PostgreSQL 19 by Magnus Hagender.
The program also included a whole series of different lightning talks and a panel discussion with various representatives from the community and industry on the question of whether PostgreSQL can and/or should actually be used for all use cases.
We were represented in the schedule with our talks on PostgreSQL Migration by Patrick Lauer and Optimizer Hints in PostgreSQL by Michael Banck.

Recordings and Video Interviews
All talks were recorded and should be available via video streaming for everyone in the near future. We expect the news and links to be published on the website then. Our video interview with our CTO Alexander Wirt and Michael Banck is already available.

Our Team’s Conclusion
All in all, PGDay Lowlands was once again a highlight of our 2026 event tour. Not only due to its proximity, but also the great location and excellent organization by the local team.
The evening event at the venue, where all participants could exchange ideas about the day and its content over snacks and drinks, was also a great opportunity to get to know the speakers, as well as the numerous developers and maintainers of various PostgreSQL projects, better or for the first time.
If you couldn’t attend this year, we definitely recommend a visit to the next event. We will certainly be there again.

Danilo has been a consultant at credativ GmbH since 2016. His technical focus is on container technologies such as Kubernetes, Podman, Docker, and their ecosystem.
